Turkey’s real problem is neither politics, nor the economy, nor anything else…
Turkey’s problem is moral and legal.
Politically, those who curse each other today can be arm-in-arm tomorrow. As for the economy, the nation has already gotten used to it. Those living in hunger are resigned to accepting what happens. Whether bread is one lira or ten, they are still living... Foreign currency or gold, those only concern a certain segment anyway.
Morality has collapsed…
Justice has also collapsed...
Are you aware that women are being murdered in this country every single day?
And the murderers of these women are creatures who already have dozens of criminal records and are walking the streets. How are these men being released, why are they out there?
In Turkey, the law only works against those who say things that are unwanted. Isn't the greatest crime murder? Isn't it assault, isn't it theft?
Aren't these the most important teachings in all religions?
Aren't these deadly sins? Forget the Abrahamic religions; isn't the foundation of teachings like Buddhism and Shamanism also this? To be a good person.
So where are these murderers, thieves, and rapists in our country?
Outside…
What are they doing? They are taking lives!
Just two days ago, wasn't a young woman in the heart of Şişli showered with bullets by her ex-husband in the middle of the road?
While we were asking how this could happen, yesterday a maniac murdered two sisters in Giresun. And in a school, an educational institution, no less…
An ex-convict working as a security guard at the Giresun Social Sciences High School. He killed two women with a gun.
It was determined that the individual who murdered the two sisters had previously entered and exited prison three times for crimes of armed assault and threats, and that he was recently hired at the school to be reintegrated into society under the ex-convict quota after his release from prison.
One cannot help but ask. While you strive to reintegrate people with these crimes into society, what are you doing to win back the young kids who are being tried while in custody?
You know those institutions that make big, grand statements, for example, the Presidency of Religious Affairs (Diyanet). Last Friday, they had a sermon read in mosques… saying, ‘Friendships between men and women lead to adultery, cohabitation without marriage, and friendships are sinful.’
Why don't you have a sermon read saying that killing women is a sin… Why don't you say that heaven lies under the feet of mothers, and that one should not harm those mothers or future mothers…
You are neither religious nor human if you do not pursue the question of “which woman was killed by which man” rather than which woman is with which man and how.
If we cannot solve the murder of women and the inability to stop men who see this as their right, we cannot solve anything. Morality is not between the legs, but in the mind.
Justice is only justice if it weighs everyone on the same scale, not just those who do not suit your interests. Because this balance does not work for us, neither the concept of morality nor justice has taken root. If you cannot protect your daughters, sisters, mothers, and wives, if you do not want to protect them, then to hell with your politics, your ambition… To hell with whatever it is you believe in…
