Those in power win, the nation grows poorer

Funds are exploding, the stock market is crashing,

Billions of liras and dollars are flying through the air.

If the sole authority on everything in the country is RTE,

He says, “There is no risk whatsoever that has permeated our financial system…”

He downplays the scandal, trivializes it, and tries to cover it up.

*

Well then, let’s look at the damage of the fund earthquake that is being downplayed and ignored;

• Liquidated funds: 131

• Size of the 131 funds: 830 billion TL

• Loss in the stock market: 3.5 trillion TL

• Damage to the national economy: 90 billion dollars.

• Number of victimized investors: 455,758

*

Let’s do a simple calculation in the face of this picture,

The damage to the national economy is 90 billion dollars, that is 4 trillion 422 billion TL,

4 trillion 422 billion TL;

• Is the total of 188 million pension payments,

• Is approximately 15,680 years of a pensioner's salary.

• Is the total of 1 year of salaries for 17 million pensioners.

4 trillion 422 billion TL;

• Is the equivalent of 158 million minimum wages.

• Is approximately 13,160 years of salary for a minimum-wage worker.

• Is the total of approximately 10 months of salaries for 16.3 million minimum-wage earners.

In the face of this picture, one cannot help but ask,

If the 90 billion dollars that became a fortune for a handful of people,

Is not such an important amount of money after all,

Why do you force pensioners and laborers to live below the hunger threshold?

*

The government's minister, deputy chairmen, bureaucrats, and cronies are involved in the fund earthquake,

And the government's sole leader, RTE, explains what they will do,

“Our red line is our noble nation. We neither take what is not ours nor do we turn a blind eye to our citizens' rights being violated…”

“...whoever reaches for the nation's rights, property, or law will find us, will find the state, standing against them…”

These words are applauded, but the culprits and those responsible never seem to emerge.

One cannot help but ask,

• Those who handcuff and arrest a father who steals breakfast food for his children,

Why are the former minister and cronies who committed billions of liras in fraud,

And the AKP officials and bureaucrats who failed to perform their oversight duties, not even called in for questioning?

• Those who handcuffed and arrested Deniz Göktaş for making the nation laugh,

Why do they play the 'three monkeys' (see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil) when the subject is AKP members?

This Zaytung news piece seems like a summary of what is being done to find the culprits and those responsible,

The fund embezzlement that exploded because one group of AKP members did not audit another group of AKP members will be audited by another group of AKP members…

*

Let’s come to the question that concerns you and the entire Nation,

What will happen to these billions of liras that disappeared into the pockets of a few people, who will pay for it?

In the words of Yıldız Yazıcıoğlu,

It will appear as a deficit in the 2027 budget in November.

The budget deficit, the loans taken, and the interest on them...

Will be covered from the pockets of the citizens, that is, from yours and all of ours, through taxes and price hikes.

In short, in this system, the answer to the problem is always the same,

Unfortunately, we will pay for the damage to the economy; the Nation will pay.

Those who come to power with the votes they receive from the Nation,

In what kind of system do they keep the Nation living in hunger and poverty?

*

At this point, let us ask ourselves a question,

What is it that is missing in this system,

• That those in power always win, and the Nation grows poorer?

• There is no rule of law, no independence of the judiciary,

• There is no freedom of the press, no right for citizens to speak out, to demonstrate and march, or to oppose the government,

• There is no equality of opportunity from business and working life to education,

• There is no justice in income distribution or the tax system...

Even the citizen's right to vote is being ignored.

*

Waiting for the ballot box does not solve problems, mistakes are not corrected, and this system does not change.

What should be done under these conditions?

It has been written many times in these lines, let us write it again,

One must become a member of an association, a professional chamber, or a union related to one's work,

By taking part in an organized society, this system of exploitation must be opposed together,

The demand for a humane and just life must be shouted out together.

The foundation of a humane and just life is clear,

It is the Democratic Secular Republic, it is the Social State of Law.

Either we will stand up for it and look to our future with hope and confidence,

Or we will be guilty before ourselves, our families, our Nation, and our future.
