The documentary titled "Samim Kocagöz: Mandatory Direction," which tells the life story of Samim Kocagöz, one of the most important writers of the 1940s social realist literature generation, is meeting audiences in Anatolia.

Following its premiere in Istanbul after a year of work, the documentary will be presented to viewers as part of its Anatolian screenings on March 10 at 16:00 at the Efes Culture Center in Söke, Aydın, and on March 11 at 20:00 at the İzmir Sanat KültürPark.

FAMILY LIFE AND WORKS ARE EXPLORED

The documentary covers Kocagöz's family life, his journey as a writer, his works, and his contributions to the literary world.

Featuring commentary from prominent figures of Turkish literature such as Doğan Hızlan and Feridun Andaç, actor Tamer Levent, his nephew and former Foreign Minister Şükrü Sina Gürel, his son Şükrü Kocagöz, and literary circles in İzmir who knew him, the documentary also includes readings of excerpts from Kocagöz's works.

The narration of the documentary, which serves as an archival resource for the literary world, was performed by actor Tamer Levent, one of the most important names in Turkish theater.

The music for the documentary was composed by Yıldıray Gürgen, who has worked on many significant television series, film, and documentary projects.

Stating that they have produced a work that will serve as an archive, director Mesut Gengeç said, "We are ready to meet our audience in Anatolia with our documentary 'Samim Kocagöz: Mandatory Direction,' which tells of all the important periods Samim Kocagöz fit into his 77-year life, starting in Söke, Aydın. The life of Samim Kocagöz contains the story of a very valuable writer in every aspect.

In this documentary, which we prepared with great meticulousness, we tried to convey all the testimonies, memories, and works related to the author's life. Throughout the year-long filming process, we examined private documents and conducted interviews with the author's inner circle. This work also sheds light on our literary world."
