Under the auspices of the Turkish Embassy in Moscow, led by the Russian-Turkish Businessmen Association (RTİB) and in cooperation with the Moscow Nazım Hikmet Culture and Art Foundation, a ceremony was held at the Novodevichy Cemetery.

The ceremony was attended by Turkey's Ambassador to Moscow Tanju Bilgiç, RTİB Deputy Chairmen Recep Haki and Nurullah Bakır, Moscow Nazım Hikmet Culture and Art Foundation President Ali Galip Savaşır, Moscow Municipality Northern District Culture Administration Director Aleksandra Ilyina, artists Zülfü Livaneli and Serenad Bağcan, as well as Turkish and Russian citizens.

During the ceremony, which featured commemorative speeches, Ambassador Bilgiç and the attendees laid wreaths and carnations at Nazım Hikmet's grave.

'HE CONTINUES TO TELL'

In his speech, Ambassador Bilgiç stated that Nazım Hikmet belongs not only to Turkey but to the world, saying, "With his simple language, Nazım still continues to tell us about the experiences, loves, longings, dreams, and passions he lived through in his extraordinary life, in a way that transcends generations through his poems."

Noting that although his life has sparked many debates depending on the international political climate, Nazım Hikmet left his mark on history not only with his poems but also with his love for humanity, passion for life, ideas, and life itself, Bilgiç expressed that everyone can find something related to their own life in the poet's works.

Bilgiç added, "Despite all these years since his passing, Nazım Hikmet continues to be a bridge of hearts between Turkey and Russia. Indeed, today we will inaugurate the Nazım Hikmet Culture Center. I would like to thank those who contributed to the opening of the center in the presence of Nazım."
