Malmö, the host of this year's Eurovision song contest, is taking intensive security measures for the event, which will be held between May 5-11.

In Sweden, where the security threat level was raised last August due to Quran-burning protests, measures are also being kept strict for Eurovision, in which Israel will participate while its war in Gaza continues.

Malmö city security official Ulf Nilsson stated in an assessment to AFP, "There is the conflict between Israel and Hamas, the war in Ukraine affecting Sweden, and the risk of a larger hybrid war; there are cyberattacks."

According to a report by DW, a significant portion of Palestinians in Sweden live in Malmö. For this reason, the war between Israel and Hamas adds a different dimension to Malmö's Eurovision preparations.
