Summer interest in the Türkiye İş Bankası Museum: Final weeks for the Karadeniz Vapuru exhibition

The Türkiye İş Bankası Museum, which focuses on the economic, social, and cultural development of the Republic of Türkiye in its historic building in Eminönü, is seeing intense interest from visitors in the 2026 summer season. Having hosted nearly 3.5 million guests since its establishment, the museum appeals to different age groups with its permanent exhibition and summer workshops.

The building, which was constructed as a post office in 1892 and used as an İş Bank branch starting in 1928, was converted into a museum in 2007. Renovated in 2024, the bank's 100th anniversary, the building continues to welcome visitors with a modern exhibition approach.

The museum's permanent exhibition, "100 Years of İş," covers the bank's founding story, the Republic's goal of economic independence, and the development of its branch network across Anatolia on the ground floor. The exhibition also features photographs from the İzmir Economic Congress that are being displayed for the first time. The upper floor covers technological transformation, modern-day banking, education, environment, sports, and culture-arts projects.

KARADENİZ VAPURU EXHIBITION OPEN UNTIL AUGUST 30

The historic journey of the Karadeniz Vapuru, considered one of the first projects of the Republic to open up to the world, is told in a special exhibition at the Türkiye İş Bankası Museum in its 100th year. Departing from the Galata Wharf on June 12, 1926, the Karadeniz Vapuru visited 15 ports in 12 European countries during its 86-day voyage.

Hosting approximately 65 thousand people, the steamship functioned as a floating exhibition hall that introduced Türkiye's industrial and cultural heritage of the period to Europe. The Karadeniz Vapuru also hosted the first "mobile branch" application of İş Bank.
