It has been announced that Göksel Arsoy, one of the unforgettable leading men of Yeşilçam, nicknamed the "Golden Boy," has passed away at the age of 90.
Göksel Arsoy, one of the unforgettable names of Turkish cinema, has passed away at the age of 90. The news of the death of Arsoy, who was considered one of the most well-known leading men of Yeşilçam and etched into memory with the nickname "Golden Boy," was announced on social media by Sedat Tulumdaş, known for his interviews with artists.

Born on March 5, 1936, in Kayseri, Göksel Arsoy stepped into cinema in 1957 with the film Kara Günlerim, directed by Sırrı Gültekin. Arsoy, who quickly became one of the most notable male actors of Yeşilçam, gained widespread recognition by sharing the lead role with Belgin Doruk in the 1959 film Samanyolu.
HE WAS ONE OF YEŞİLÇAM'S STAR NAMES
The partnership between Arsoy and Belgin Doruk in romantic films played an important role in the formation of the star system of that era. The actor, who starred in productions such as Taş Bebek, Bulunmaz Uşak, and Şafak Bekçileri, also went down in cinema history with the Altın Çocuk series in the 1960s, in which he was referred to as the "first Turkish James Bond." In this series, Arsoy also worked as a producer in addition to acting.
Arsoy, who starred in more than 100 films, stepped away from cinema in 1968. After a long hiatus, he returned to the screen in the 2000s with television series. The actor's final film was Unutulmayanlar.
Throughout his career, Göksel Arsoy was deemed worthy of various awards for his contributions to cinema. Arsoy, who received the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 36th Golden Orange Film Festival in 1999, was presented with the Cinema Honorary Award by the İstanbul Film Festival in 2019.
Also known for his interest in aviation, this passion of Arsoy's was reflected in the film Şafak Bekçileri, in which he starred. Arsoy was the nephew of Yesari Asım Arsoy, one of the important composers of classical Turkish music.
