13 irregular migrants apprehended in Konya
In Konya, 13 irregular migrants were found inside two vehicles that police teams deemed suspicious during routine checks. Both drivers were arrested, and fines totaling 32,233 Turkish Liras were issued for the vehicles.
Teams from the Konya Police Department's Anti-Migrant Smuggling and Border Gates Branch continue their fight against migrant smuggling through checkpoints across many parts of the city.
During license plate recognition system (PTS) checks conducted by the teams in the central Selçuklu district, a vehicle deemed suspicious was stopped on Aliya Izzet Begovic Street. Seven irregular migrants were apprehended inside the vehicle.
SUSPICIOUS VEHICLE STOPPED
The teams also stopped a vehicle on suspicion during PTS checks in the central Karatay district. Six irregular migrants were found inside the vehicle, which was stopped on the Adana Ring Road.
THEY WILL BE DEPORTED
It was learned that the 13 apprehended irregular migrants will be deported following the completion of their processing at the police station. The two vehicle drivers, against whom judicial proceedings were initiated, were referred to the courthouse and subsequently arrested by the court and sent to prison.
Fines of 32,233 TL were applied to each of the two vehicles, and the vehicles were banned from traffic for 60 days.
