15-day ban in Ankara following miners' protest

The Ankara Governor's Office has announced that a 15-day ban on protests and events will be implemented throughout the city. The decision came following the protests in Ankara by workers from Eti Gümüş and Doruk Madencilik, which are under the Yıldızlar SSS Holding.

The miners had come to Ankara yesterday to demand that promises made to them be kept and had intended to make a statement in front of the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources. During the police intervention, 80 miners were detained.

The Independent Mining Workers' Union (Bağımsız Maden İş Sendikası) announced that the detained workers were released during the night after approximately 12 hours. The union stated that a meeting with the Ministry of Energy could not be held.

In its statement, the union argued that the responsibility for the process lies with the Ministries of Energy, Labor, and Interior. It was stated that efforts to meet the workers' demands would continue.

The Independent Mining Workers' Union had also announced that they would be in front of the Ministry of Energy again today at 11:00 AM. The Governor's Office's 15-day ban covers all protests and events to be held in the city.
