Access ban decision for journalist Ali Tarakcı's social media account

An access ban has been imposed on journalist Ali Tarakcı's social media account. With the decision taken upon the request of the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, Tarakcı's post on his X account stating, "A very important minister will resign on Friday," was included in the scope of the access ban.

ACCESS BAN DECISION FROM THE COURT

The decision was issued by the Ankara 7th Criminal Judgeship of Peace. The decision included the assessment that Tarakcı's aforementioned post manipulated the markets.

It was reported that the access ban decision was forwarded to the Cyber Security Presidency for implementation.

INVESTIGATION UNDERWAY REGARDING THE POST

An investigation had been launched into Tarakcı by the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office Press Crimes Investigation Bureau for the crime of "Publicly Spreading Misleading Information" due to the post in question.

Within the scope of the investigation, a detention order was issued for Tarakcı, and instructions were carried out to search his address and seize his digital materials.

SEARCH CONDUCTED AT HIS HOME

It was reported that the digital materials seized during the search conducted by security forces at Tarakcı's address were taken into custody for examination.

Tarakcı is expected to be referred to the prosecutor's office conducting the investigation following his procedures at the police station.
