Acting mayor election to be held again in Adalar: CHP member resigns
The Istanbul Governor's Office announced that CHP Adalar Acting Mayor Medine Pamuk has resigned from her post due to health issues.
CHP member Medine Pamuk, who was elected as acting mayor following the arrest of Adalar Mayor Ali Ercan Akpolat, has resigned from her position citing health reasons.
The Governor's Office announced that the election for a new acting mayor will be held on September 21.
In the statement issued by the Governor's Office, it was noted that Pamuk's resignation letter was received on September 14 and that the Adalar Municipal Council will convene on Monday, September 21, at 09:00 to determine the new acting mayor.
WHAT HAPPENED?
Adalar Mayor Ali Ercan Akpolat was arrested on June 23 and suspended from his duties by the Ministry of Interior.
Following Akpolat's arrest, Municipal Council Member Medine Pamuk was appointed as the Acting Mayor of Adalar during the council election held on June 27.
