Ordu Metropolitan Municipality has ordered businesses operating in the Altınordu district to remove their New Year's decorations. The notice sent to shops on Sırrıpaşa Street demanded that unauthorized window decorations be removed within 3 days.
Following the reactions that spread rapidly on social media, Ordu Metropolitan Municipality took a step back and collected the notices they had sent to all businesses.
Lawyer Deniz Akbıyık shared the warning sent to his cousin's cafe in Ordu on social media. Stating that the business adds color to the city with different concepts every New Year, Akbıyık brought the situation to the agenda by sharing his reaction.
The notice included an instruction to remove unauthorized decorations on the exterior facades of workplaces, based on the 2021/22 City Aesthetics Board Decision of the Ordu Metropolitan Municipality Department of Projects and Construction, Urban Aesthetics Branch Directorate. Businesses were informed that if they did not remove these decorations within 3 days, criminal proceedings would be initiated.

STEP BACK FROM THE MUNICIPALITY
With the effect of the increasing reactions on social media, the municipality took a step back. According to Lawyer Akbıyık's post, municipal police officers collected the notices they had taken from all businesses, and the authorities decided to grant permission.
