Access to the social media platform Instagram has been blocked by a decision of the Information and Communication Technologies Authority (BTK).
Instagram can only be accessed from Turkey using a VPN. VPNs, however, are known to pose a threat to users' personal data.
12punto has discovered that Turkey's official news agency, Anadolu Agency, has ignored the access ban and has been making posts since August 2.
AA has made 78 posts since August 2, disregarding the BTK's access ban decision.

On the day the access ban decision was issued, a 'Happy Friday' message was shared from President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's Instagram account. Erdoğan's post was removed approximately 40 minutes later.
STATEMENT FROM THE MINISTER
Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu had stated regarding the access ban imposed on the social media platform Instagram by the Information and Communication Technologies Authority (BTK): "Our sensitivities are clearly defined. The shortcomings there are clear. The moment they address those shortcomings, meaning let's say an hour later, we will lift that ban."
It was stated that discussions between Instagram officials and the authorities were ongoing.
