Ankara Bar Association files criminal complaint against 'caliphate advocates'
The Ankara Bar Association announced in a statement on its social media account that it has filed a criminal complaint against individuals who unfurled a caliphate flag and against the public officials involved.
The Ankara Bar Association announced that it has filed a criminal complaint against the individuals who unfurled a caliphate flag during the march held in Istanbul under the name "Mercy to our martyrs, support for Palestine, curse on Israel," as well as against Istanbul Governor Davut Gül and other public officials who did not prevent the said flag from being brought into the rally area and unfurled.
The following statement was made by the Bar Association:
"A criminal complaint has been filed regarding the crimes of Violation of the Constitution (Turkish Penal Code Art. 309), Opposition to Law No. 431, and Misconduct/Negligence in Office against an individual named İsmail Aydemir, who unfurled a 'Caliphate/Tawhid Flag' during the march held in Istanbul under the name 'Mercy to our martyrs, support for Palestine, curse on Israel,' other individuals to be identified ex officio by the Public Prosecutor's Office, and Istanbul Governor Davut Gül and other public officials who did not prevent the said flag from being brought into the area where the march/rally was held and from being unfurled."
