Another fatality in marble quarry landslide

The lifeless body of Mustafa Dak, who was trapped under debris following a landslide that occurred on November 24 at a marble quarry owned by Ediz Öztürk in the Saraylar neighborhood of Balıkesir's Marmara Island, has been recovered.

As a result of intensive efforts by AFAD, fire department, medical, and gendarmerie teams, Dak's body, which was trapped under marble blocks, was removed from the site with the help of heavy machinery. The body was sent to the Marmara State Hospital morgue.

AHMET ÖZMEN'S BODY HAD BEEN RECOVERED

The lifeless body of the other worker, Ahmet Özmen, who was trapped under marble blocks during the landslide, had been recovered earlier.

Teams are continuing their investigation into the cause of the landslide.

As a result of a landslide that occurred at the marble quarry in the Saraylar neighborhood on November 24, workers Ahmet Özmen and Mustafa Dak were trapped under marble blocks that moved along with the sliding soil. In the rescue operations launched after the incident, first Ahmet Özmen's body and then Mustafa Dak's body were recovered.
