Atatürkist Thought Association reacts sharply to Öcalan being invited to Parliament: 'We will not bow to the conditions of terror!'

In a written statement, the Atatürkist Thought Association emphasized that the Republic of Turkey cannot negotiate with terrorist organizations and cannot bow to their demands. Drawing attention to recent developments, the association stated that the PKK terrorist organization has caused the loss of thousands of lives and massive economic losses in the struggle that has lasted for years.

The statement noted that the PKK poses serious threats to the unity of the Turkish nation through its terrorist acts, and reminded that many soldiers, police officers, teachers, healthcare workers, and civilians have lost their lives in this 40-year struggle. The association issued warnings against the PKK, which was largely neutralized in 2002, and its current efforts to establish terrorist statelets in Iraq and Syria.

The Republic of Turkey is a sovereign state of law.

No sovereign state negotiates with terrorist organizations, nor does it allow them to put forward conditions to end their betrayals.

The State of the Republic of Turkey has been fighting for 40 years against the PKK terrorist organization, the subcontractor of Western Imperialism's plan to divide our ancient country.

In this struggle, we have martyred thousands of our soldier and police children, hundreds of our teachers, healthcare workers, and public officials; tens of thousands of our citizens have fallen to the earth, and we have lost national wealth worth billions of dollars.

The fact that this treacherous organization, which was rendered incapable of action and almost destroyed in 2002 by breaking its internal and external support, has today established puppet terrorist statelets of imperialism in northern Iraq and Syria, the invitation of its ringleader to the TBMM (Grand National Assembly of Turkey), his publishing of statements to the public and putting forward conditions, and even his posing as a champion of democracy as if he were forgotten, are all the results of the wrong policies of the 22-year AKP governments and especially the grave mistakes of the last 13 years.

Moreover, his audacity to speak of "strengthening Turkish-Kurdish brotherhood"—which he tried to dynamite for years but failed—and to see himself as a legitimate interlocutor of the state by mentioning a "new paradigm" is beyond comprehension.

Turkey is certainly not in need of the benevolence of a blood-stained terrorist sentenced to aggravated life imprisonment. It is unacceptable for such an impression to arise. As the Atatürkist Thought Association, we expect all our institutions, including our political parties, to act with the awareness that governing a state is a serious duty and to avoid decisions and practices that will hurt the feelings of our nation and damage our national honor.
