Attempted knife attack on police in Fatih
A 29-year-old suspect, who allegedly pointed a knife at a traffic police officer in Aksaray neighborhood, was shot in the leg and apprehended after a chase.
In Istanbul's Fatih district, a suspect who allegedly attempted to attack a traffic police officer with a knife was shot and neutralized by police teams.
The incident occurred in the Aksaray neighborhood of Fatih district. According to allegations, 29-year-old M.B. approached a traffic police officer and attempted an attack by pointing a knife at him. The police officer managed to escape the attack by stepping back.
Following the police intervention, the suspect began to flee the scene. A chase ensued between the teams and M.B., and the suspect, who reportedly continued to flee despite orders to stop, was shot in the leg by another police officer and apprehended.
A quantity of narcotics was seized during a search of the injured M.B. Medical teams dispatched to the area upon notification provided the first intervention to the suspect at the scene.
It was learned that M.B., who was taken to the hospital, is not in life-threatening condition. An investigation into the incident has been launched.
