Ayşe Ateş, the wife of former Idealist Hearths President Sinan Ateş, made striking statements regarding his assassination.

Ateş said that CHP leader Özgür Özel asked her regarding her husband's death, "Do you think Devlet Bahçeli has any involvement in this?" Ateş stated, "I do not think Devlet Bahçeli has any connection to or knowledge of this matter."
