Buğra Kavuncu poses questions to Minister Yerlikaya regarding luxury vehicles

Kavuncu directed 6 questions to Minister of Interior Ali Yerlikaya for him to answer regarding the luxury police vehicles that have been registered to the police inventory and are now in traffic.

Sharing on his social media account with the note, "I asked Minister of Interior Mr. Ali Yerlikaya about the luxury vehicles included in the police inventory. There are many question marks in the public eye, and you are obligated to clarify them," Kavuncu's parliamentary question on the subject included the following statements:

"In an operation conducted in 6 provinces centered in Istanbul, 14 people, including Dilan Polat and her husband Engin Polat, who were detained for crimes of money laundering, tax evasion, and illegal betting, were arrested.

Following the operation, reports reflected in the press in recent days stated that 30 luxury vehicles belonging to the Polat couple were seized, that the vehicles included many brands, and that the seized vehicles had entered the inventory of the Istanbul Police Department and had begun to be used as police vehicles.

Is there a practice of vehicles seized in similar operations entering the inventory of any police department, or has a different practice been followed in this matter?

What is the process followed for seized vehicles under normal procedures?

"IS THERE A POSSIBILITY OF THEM BEING USED BY HIGH-LEVEL OFFICIALS?"

What will be the area of use for the luxury police vehicles? If they are to be used for daily life, will this not create question marks in the eyes of the citizens? Will the fact that traffic police vehicles consist of these luxury vehicles not draw a reaction from the public?

Considering that fuel costs are higher compared to normal vehicles, will the use of luxury vehicles by our security forces not cause an additional expense in the budget of the security forces?

How will the process work in the event that the luxury vehicles in question are involved in any traffic accident?

Is there a possibility that the luxury vehicles that have entered the inventory of the Istanbul Police Department will be used by high-level officials later on; if such a possibility exists, will this not be a practice that casts suspicion on many security personnel who ensure our safety on the streets every day?"
