BirGün newspaper website Managing Editor Yaşar Gökdemir and Publication Coordinators Berkant Gültekin and Uğur Koç have been detained.

CHP Chair Özel responded to the detention decisions.

"THEY HAVE PANICKED AND TARGETED JOURNALISTS"

In a statement on his X account, Özel used the following expressions:

"The mobile guillotine in Istanbul has once again panicked and targeted journalists to hide its exposed lawlessness.

The detention of journalists Uğur Koç, Berkant Gültekin, and Yaşar Gökdemir for publishing a story in BirGün that had already been published by the Sabah newspaper is an unprecedented scandal.

Trying to manufacture a crime here is the panic of guilt. The journalists must be released immediately."
