Closed runway at Istanbul Airport reopened for flights
Selahattin Bilgen, CEO of Istanbul Airport operator IGA, announced that the runway, which had been closed due to a cargo plane making an emergency belly landing following a landing gear malfunction, has been reopened for flights.

A cargo plane belonging to a foreign airline, operating a flight from Paris to Istanbul, was forced to make a belly landing after its landing gear failed to deploy.
Making a statement on his social media account, Selahattin Bilgen shared footage regarding the runway's return to service.
Bilgen stated, "The cargo aircraft that made an emergency belly landing on our 16R runway yesterday was successfully removed from the runway and moved to a safe position thanks to the coordination of all our stakeholders and the devoted work of our teams. Following our successful operation, our runway has resumed service.
On this occasion, I wish all our stakeholders a speedy recovery and wish our passengers safe and comfortable flights," he said.
