The Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) Transportation Coordination Center (UKOME) approved a 13 percent hike for public transport during its July meeting.
The full fare, which was 17.70 TL, has been increased to 20 TL, while the student fare has been raised from 10 TL to 12 TL, representing a 20 percent increase.
It was also decided to increase the monthly student subscription fee from 250 TL to 282.5 TL.
The student fare increased from 8.64 liras to 9.76 liras, and the social fare (teachers, those aged 60 and over) rose from 12.67 liras to 14.32 liras.
INCREASE FOR SEA TAXIS
During the meeting, a 100 percent increase was also applied to IMM sea taxi fares.
In this context, the opening and first-mile fee, which was 210 liras, has been raised to 420 liras; the fare for 1-4 miles, which was 155 liras, has been raised to 310 liras; the fare for 4-8 miles, which was 125 liras, has been raised to 250 liras; and the fare for 8-16 miles, which was 100 liras, has been raised to 200 liras.
