Diarrhea, vomiting, fatigue: Over 100 MPs and staff hospitalized at Parliament

More than 100 MPs and staff at Parliament have applied to the hospital with complaints of diarrhea, vomiting, and fatigue. While no official statement has been made regarding the matter, it has been alleged that the poisoning complaints may be water-borne.

According to the report in GerçekGündem, more than 100 people, including members of parliament and parliamentary staff, have applied to the Parliament Hospital over the last two days with complaints of diarrhea, vomiting, and severe fatigue.

ÜN: I HAVE BEEN VOMITING SINCE THIS MORNING

Among those experiencing suspected poisoning is Yeniyol Party Denizli MP Sema Silkin Ün, who stated, "I have been vomiting constantly since this morning. I haven't eaten anything from outside; I haven't consumed any food other than the parliamentary cafeteria."

However, Ün also noted that there is no definitive conclusion that the poisoning was directly caused by the food, saying, "The majority of the colleagues who have complaints ate different meals. I don't think it's from the food, but there is a significant number of people complaining."

"IT COULD BE AN EPIDEMIC"

Officials from the TBMM Department of Support Services, providing information on the matter, stated that samples taken from the parliamentary cafeteria have been analyzed and no findings of poisoning have been encountered.

The presidency officials shared the following information:

"No problems were detected in our meals. However, in our meeting with the Ankara Provincial Health Directorate, we were informed that there is a serious epidemic across the city."

IS IT CAUSED BY 'WATER'?

Some staff members have alleged that the poisoning complaints may be water-borne. It was learned that in recent weeks, as part of austerity measures, the tea rooms in Parliament switched from bottled water to purified water.

PRECAUTIONS EXPECTED

So far, more than 100 people have applied to the Parliament Hospital with symptoms such as diarrhea and vomiting. While a detailed explanation regarding the source of the incident has not yet been made by parliamentary officials, health teams are also concerned about the increase in the number of cases.
