District mufti Halil Bilik arrested for child sexual abuse
An investigation was launched into Akçakale Mufti Halil Bilik following allegations that he sexually abused a student at a school where he was working as a paid substitute teacher. It was decided that Bilik be arrested.
Halil Bilik, who serves as the mufti in the Akçakale district of Urfa, has been arrested on allegations of sexually abusing a 12-year-old child. Bilik, who subjected the student to sexual abuse while teaching a religious studies class at a school, was taken into custody following a complaint.
It was stated that the child was a student at a school where Bilik was working as a paid substitute teacher, and the Şanlıurfa Bar Association Children's Rights Commission issued a statement regarding the matter on its social media account.
The statement, which noted that an investigation had been launched into Bilik, included the following remarks:
“An investigation has been launched into the Akçakale mufti of Şanlıurfa following allegations that he committed sexual abuse against his 12-year-old student at the school where he was working as a paid substitute teacher. The suspect was arrested on 20.10.2023. We respectfully inform the public that we will be following the case.”
