Enver Aysever arrested

Journalist Enver Aysever, who was detained at his home late at night due to his remarks about the right-wing segment during a YouTube broadcast, was requested to be arrested by the prosecutor's office.

Aysever, who gave his statement at the Küçükçekmece Courthouse, was referred to the Criminal Judgeship of Peace under the charge of 'inciting the public to hatred and hostility or insulting'.

An arrest warrant was issued for Aysever.

"A PERCEPTION WAS CREATED"

Aysever's lawyer argued that his client's words should be evaluated within the framework of freedom of expression, stating that the broadcast was distorted on social media platforms, and made the following statements:

"Hello, good night everyone. We are currently in front of the Vatan Police Headquarters. I met with my client Enver Aysever, he sends his regards to everyone. He specifically requested that I make this statement. I am making this statement now in line with his request.

He was detained here because of this broadcast he made on his own channel yesterday, where he shared critical thoughts regarding Hasan İmamoğlu's statements on his YouTube channel. Of course, in this YouTube broadcast he made, unfortunately, a perception has been created on social media by cropping the beginning and end, that is, certain parts of the broadcast, and my client's detention has been ensured. However, when you examine the broadcast from beginning to end, we see that Enver Aysever is criticizing a mindset, protesting a mindset, and expressing this clearly and explicitly within the scope of freedom of thought.

He will give his statement at the Küçükçekmece Courthouse tomorrow morning, and we will attend his statement. Our hope is that he will be tried without arrest. But unfortunately, my client has been detained due to a social media perception. He sends his regards to everyone, he sends his love to you all. I offer my respects."
