In his column today, Altaylı drew attention to the license plates of the luxury vehicles belonging to the Dilan-Engin Polat couple, whose assets have been seized and who are currently under investigation.

Altaylı stated, "All of their ultra-expensive vehicles have license plates bearing the initials of the couple's names," and asked, "It is not an easy task to obtain license plates for so many cars with your own and your spouse's initials, and some even with the same numbers. Moreover, these letter groups must be issued in the region where you live. Frankly, I am very curious, how were they able to get these plates? Is it legal? Is it given to anyone who asks?"
