First comment from wife Ayşe Ateş on the acceptance of the Sinan Ateş murder indictment

The indictment prepared against 22 people regarding the murder of former Ülkü Ocakları President Sinan Ateş has been accepted.

The indictment states that one of the suspects, Tolgahan Demirbaş, who is identified as an instigator of the murder, obtained Sinan Ateş's personal information—such as his address, phone number, and location—from suspect Mustafa Ensar Aykal, a police commissioner serving at the Ankara Police Department, and provided it to Eray Özyağci, who carried out the attack.

FIRST COMMENT FROM AYŞE ATEŞ

Following the acceptance of the indictment, Sinan Ateş's wife, Ayşe Ateş, made a striking statement.

Stating from the very beginning that the indictment is insufficient and falls far short of uncovering the political dimensions of the murder, Ateş shared the following:

"I have learned with great sadness that this hollow piece of paper, called an indictment, has been accepted. My children ask me, 'Did the police kill our father?'

I tell them every time, 'No, my dears, our state's police protect us. They are following us secretly from behind,' so that they do not lose their trust in the state.

But today, I saw once again that our state is neither to our right, nor our left, nor in front of us, nor behind us.

It is worth stating once again: Whatever the cost, I will not allow my legal struggle to be used as a pawn for political interests.

I will hold those responsible accountable before the judiciary, one by one, for the tears deemed fit for my children so that others' children may sleep soundly, and for the childhood years cruelly taken from my children and the days that were poisoned.

If sleep is forbidden to me and my children, I will not allow a single perpetrator who caused us to be in this situation today to sleep soundly."
