First statement from 25-year TRT reporter Elif Akkuş after arrest: 'The wish of FETÖ members has been granted'

25-year TRT reporter Elif Akkuş had been referred to court by the prosecutor at the Ankara Courthouse with a request for her arrest. She made her first statement to 12punto.com.tr following the arrest decision.

First statement from 25-year TRT reporter Elif Akkuş after arrest: 'The wish of FETÖ members has been granted'

After the interrogation, the prosecutor, who referred Elif Akkuş to the Criminal Court of Peace with a request for her arrest, also sent a document stating that a detention order had been issued alongside it.

Following the arrest decision issued for Akkuş, she spoke to Müyesser Yıldız, who was following the process live, and stated that Edip Akbayram was a friend of her father. She told her mother, "Give my regards to Uncle Edip, tell him 'I am going with the song Gülümsedik Gökyüzüne' (We Smiled at the Sky)."

Akkuş also stated that about a year ago, she had spent one night in Sincan Prison to report on it, and that she actually wanted to describe the situation of women and children in the prison. She noted that due to the way the report was published on TRT, FETÖ members had told her, 'You are glorifying the prison, I hope you end up in there,' and added, "The wish of FETÖ members has been granted."
