First statement from Metin Cihan after his X account was blocked in Turkey

The X account of journalist Metin Cihan, who has alleged that the AKP government has not cut off trade with Israel and that ships are still being sent to Israel from ports in Turkey, has been blocked in Turkey.

The reason cited was the 'protection of national security and public order.'

Cihan, whose account access was restricted, made his first statement.

"I WILL NOT BE SILENCED"

The statement made by Metin Cihan via his Bluesky account is as follows:

"My X (Twitter) account has been banned. My posts are no longer visible from Turkey. First of all, I have a request for you: If you share this image from your own account, you will have helped my statement be heard. There is no court ruling against me. This decision has no legal basis. The government requested it, and X complied. Censorship works with this simplicity. So why? Because I showed with documents that our country is providing all kinds of supplies, including in the military field, to Israel while the massacre in Palestine continues. Because I exposed the cooperation with Israel. I based my news only on publicly available official sources. I shared the Ministry of Trade's data. The ministry was later forced to admit to this trade, and this fact had a major impact on Erdoğan's local election defeat. That is why I am being punished, and they are trying to prevent people from accessing my news. Twitter, especially after taking the name X, that is, after being bought by a wealthy snob who supports massacre-prone and oppressive policies all over the world, has made censorship a routine practice. I invite everyone looking for a Twitter-like alternative for a freer and uncensored social media to Bluesky. I will continue to share my news from there. Perhaps my voice will be heard less, but I will not be silenced. Metin Cihan (@metcihan)"
