First statement from the Victory Party regarding the detention of Ümit Özdağ: We have been expecting this for 6 months
Victory Party Deputy Chairman Şükrü Sina Gürel made statements regarding the detention of their Chairman Ümit Özdağ during a live broadcast.
Stating that they had just received the news of the detention decision, Gürel said the following regarding the detention during the Halktv broadcast:
"We just received the news; the entire street where our professor is located has been surrounded by police. We would like to thank all the party leaders who have expressed their support, sadness, and concerns.
There is now a serious awakening in Turkey, and this awakening is frightening the government. All these recent steps are largely due to fear; fear is looming, but of course, fear is of no use against fate.
We have been expecting them to take action against us for the last 6 months.
I believe that the awakening of the public will bring an end to the AKP government.
Apart from this, in a statement made by the Victory Party, which gathered with an emergency code, the message 'We stand with our Chairman' was given.
