Flash statement from CHP regarding the explosion in Balıkesir: 'It is not 12, currently 11 people have lost their lives'
It was announced that 12 people died and 5 were injured in an explosion at a factory producing explosives in the Karesi district of Balıkesir. Speaking to 12punto, CHP Balıkesir Deputy Ensar Aytekin and CHP Balıkesir Provincial Chair Erden Köybaşı shared the information that 11 citizens have lost their lives as of now. Aytekin said, "The number is being reported as 12 because one person could not be identified due to the state of their remains."
An explosion occurred at a factory producing explosives in the Karesi district of Balıkesir, leaving 12 people dead and 5 injured. CHP Balıkesir Deputy Ensar Aytekin and CHP Balıkesir Provincial Chair Erden Köybaşı made statements to 12punto regarding the tragedy.
"AS OF NOW, 11 OF OUR CITIZENS HAVE LOST THEIR LIVES"
Sharing the information that 11 of our citizens have lost their lives as of now, Aytekin stated, "I just received information from the governor that 11 of our citizens have lost their lives. The number is being reported as 12 because one person could not be identified due to the state of their remains, but he said that 11 people have definitely lost their lives as of now."
Minister of Interior Ali Yerlikaya also confirmed these claims. Yerlikaya reported that 11 people lost their lives in the explosion that occurred this morning at the ammunition factory in Balıkesir. The bodies of the 11 people who lost their lives in the explosion were brought to the Bursa Forensic Medicine Institute for autopsy.
"IT APPEARS THERE WAS NO SABOTAGE"
Reporting from the scene, Köybaşı also said in his statement regarding the cause of the explosion, "There are currently 11 people who have lost their lives, and the rubble is being cleared. It is hoped that the number of 3 injured will not increase. It is very bad; the building has completely blown apart. There are families here trying to get information, and those who have arrived are trying to console the families. The cause of the explosion will be determined after the investigation. The cause will be revealed through technical examination, but it appears there was no sabotage."
"OUR 4-MEMBER TECHNICAL COMMITTEE WILL CONDUCT AN INVESTIGATION"
Stating that a technical committee consisting of CHP deputies will be assigned, Köybaşı concluded his words by saying, "I do not think there is any negligence involved because occupational safety inspections are carried out frequently in such places, but of course, this will emerge as a result of the technical investigation. If there is any negligence, our 4-member technical committee of deputies will conduct an investigation at the scene under the direction of our esteemed chairman, they will research the issue, and if there is any negligence, we will share it."
