Forest fire continues for 4 days in Muğla
The forest fire that began in Menteşe on October 18 has been ongoing for 4 days. While it has been reported that the fire is partially under control, aerial and ground interventions continue.
Extinguishing efforts continue for the fire that broke out in the Menteşe district of Muğla on October 18 due to power lines, which has been reported as partially under control.
The fire started in the forest in the Turnalı area of the district on October 18 at approximately 03:30.
Upon notification by citizens who noticed smoke rising from the forest, numerous teams from the Regional Directorate of Forestry were dispatched to the region.
A total of 313 personnel participated in the extinguishing efforts, supported by the Metropolitan Municipality Fire Department, with intervention involving 130 response vehicles, 45 fire trucks, 12 water tankers, 13 construction machines, 16 helicopters, and 8 aircraft.
PARTIALLY UNDER CONTROL
It was reported that the fire, which was determined to have been caused by power lines according to initial findings, was partially brought under control as of 13:30 yesterday (Sunday, October 20).
Intervention with aircraft and helicopters, which was suspended when it got dark, resumed today with the first light of day.
The teams' work is ongoing.
