Former TRNC Prime Minister and Speaker of Parliament Sibel Siber detained
In the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), former Prime Minister and Speaker of the Assembly Sibel Siber has been detained by police as part of an investigation into "fake prescriptions."
"The first female Speaker of Parliament and Prime Minister of the TRNC" Sibel Siber was detained as part of an investigation launched last month following a criminal complaint filed by the Ministry of Labor and Social Security.
ALLEGATION OF UNJUST ENRICHMENT
No information was provided regarding the specific reason for including Siber, who still practices medicine, in the investigation.
'The TRNC Social Insurance Department' has been included in the investigation, which involves 40 suspects consisting of doctors, pharmacists, and pharmacy employees, on allegations of causing financial loss through fake prescriptions and obtaining unjust enrichment. Siber's processing at the police station is ongoing.
