Behind the scenes of the family massacre in Eyüpsultan: Surprising comments from neighbors

In the incident that took place yesterday evening in a 3-story building on Derin Street in the Akşemsettin neighborhood of Eyüpsultan, 17-year-old B.Y. killed his mother, father, grandmother, and disabled sister with a firearm after an argument with his family, and fled the scene. B.Y., who was caught by police teams in Bursa, was brought to the Juvenile Branch Directorate in Üsküdar.

NEIGHBORS DESCRIBE THE FAMILY

Osman Ümmet, one of the family's neighbors who described the incident, said, "They were my neighbors, a family I knew. They were a family who kept to themselves and did no harm to anyone. We had known each other for years. We are also in a state of shock. He had no problems with anyone; he would go to school and come back. We never heard of him having any such trouble. It was around 10:30 PM. We were at home at that time; I had a guest. An ambulance arrived, followed by police teams."

Erdal Doğan said, "No one in the building heard the sound of gunfire. We did not hear any gunshots. The family were very good people. We have been neighbors for 10 years. This building was like a family building. They were very good people.

We never heard of any problems they had. The boy was not that kind of child. We never saw any wrong behavior from the boy. He would ask how everyone was doing whenever he saw them. He was a very good child. But why did this happen? We are also surprised by this situation," he said.
