Critical development in the Narin Güran case! Is Nevzat Bahtiyar being released?

A verdict has been reached in the trial regarding the murder of 8-year-old Narin Güran in Diyarbakır.

Accordingly, in the case heard at the High Criminal Court, the detained defendants, uncle Salim Güran, mother Yüksel Güran, and brother Enes Güran, were sentenced to life imprisonment for the crime of "intentional killing of a child in complicity."

Nevzat Bahtiyar, who left the body of 8-year-old Narin by the riverbank, received a 4-year and 6-month prison sentence.

LAWYERS FILED AN APPEAL

Following the verdict, Bahtiyar’s lawyers, Adnan Ataş and Ali Eryılmaz, filed a petition requesting their client's release.

The court responded yesterday to the petition submitted by the lawyers on January 2.

COURT REJECTS APPEAL

According to the report in Gazete Duvar, the decision rejecting the lawyers' appeal stated that there was no inaccuracy in the detention order issued by the Diyarbakır 8th High Criminal Court.

Stating that the decision was in accordance with procedure and law, the ruling included the phrases: “The defendant shall remain in detention, the decision shall be notified to the appealing party by the court, and the file shall be returned to the Diyarbakır 8th High Criminal Court for necessary action…”
