Flags lowered to half-mast following Kartalkaya hotel fire
A 1-day national mourning has been declared in Turkey following the tragic fire at the Grand Kartal Hotel in the Bolu Kartalkaya Ski Center, which claimed the lives of 76 people. Flags have been lowered to half-mast.
In the fire that broke out at the hotel in the Bolu Kartalkaya Ski Center, where 238 people were present, 76 people lost their lives, and the identities of 56 individuals have been determined.
9 people have been detained in connection with the fire. President and AKP Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan declared a 1-day 'national mourning' across the country yesterday evening.
FLAGS LOWERED TO HALF-MAST
Following the national mourning, flags have been lowered to half-mast across Turkey. In the fire that broke out at the Grand Kartal Hotel in Bolu Kartalkaya at midnight yesterday, 76 people lost their lives, and the bodies of 45 people have been delivered to their families.
9 PEOPLE DETAINED
Minister of Interior Ali Yerlikaya announced that the identities of 56 of the deceased have been determined and that 9 people have been detained in connection with the incident.
While 17 injured individuals have been discharged, the treatment of one person in critical condition continues. In a statement following the tragedy, President Erdoğan said, "Every necessary step will be taken to shed light on the incident and hold those responsible accountable. Our grief is immense."
