Identification of hotel fire victims in a truck sparks outrage: Roasted chicken images covered with tarps
Following a fire at the Grand Kartal Hotel in the Bolu Kartalkaya Ski Center, 76 people lost their lives. Due to the morgue reaching capacity, the bodies were identified in a refrigerated truck belonging to a food company. The images of roasted chicken on the side of the truck sparked significant outrage and were subsequently covered with tarps.
The fire that broke out at the Grand Kartal Hotel in the Bolu Kartalkaya Ski Center resulted in the loss of 76 lives.
BODIES ARE BEING RELEASED TO FAMILIES
The Ministry of Interior announced that 45 identified bodies have been released to their families, while the unidentified bodies have been sent to the Council of Forensic Medicine in Ankara.
OUTRAGE OVER REFRIGERATED TRUCK
Following the disaster, due to insufficient morgue capacity, the bodies were placed in a refrigerated truck belonging to a food company that was brought in front of the Bolu Abant İzzet Baysal Training and Research Hospital.

Families identified their loved ones in this truck. However, the presence of roasted chicken images on the side of the truck caused a major backlash both on social media and among the public.
COVERED WITH TARPS AFTER OUTRAGE
The images, which spread rapidly on social media, caused public outcry. Following the reactions, the images on the truck were covered with tarps.
