Hakan Fidan explains details regarding the 'Mecca Agreement'

Fidan made assessments on critical topics such as the details of the Mecca Joint Defense Agreement, the latest situation in US-Iran negotiations, the tension in the Strait of Hormuz, the second phase of the ceasefire process in Gaza, and the rising tension in the Russia-Ukraine War.

MECCA JOINT DEFENSE AGREEMENT

"(Mecca Joint Defense Agreement) There are some cornerstones of the foreign policy we conduct under the leadership of our President. We witnessed an event related to the realization of one of them.

Increasing our regional ownership is important. Hegemons coming from outside do not solve problems; they make them even more acute.

There is a will to eliminate and stop the instabilities in the region and to advance the welfare of the regional people by ensuring greater integration.

This agreement has been in preparation for two years.

The countries that signed this alliance commit that they will not be a threat to each other's security. We are now in solidarity internally, not against an actor outside.

Technically, the Mecca Joint Defense Agreement is the same as Article 5 of the NATO Treaty regarding collective defense.

There is no common threat we have put in writing.

When you look at the foreign policy stances of Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, and Turkey, they are not countries with expansionist policies. They are busy with their own troubles and development within their own borders.

No country that does not attack us is our target.

As long as it is not attacked from within or outside the region, this alliance cannot have any issues with any country.

We are in no way going to keep different geographies and different priorities in conflict with each other.

Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, and Turkey are not expansionist countries.

The headquarters of the secretariat will be in Saudi Arabia; we decided it that way.

I do not want to name them, but there are other countries that want to join.

With the approval of the core countries, other countries can join here. Our vision, which our President also wants, is that it should not be limited to 3 countries, but that all countries in the region should gather."

CAUCASUS PACT

"(Possibility of a Caucasus Pact) These can be built when necessary.

It is possible to harmonize the security architectures of Europe and the Middle East through Turkey in the long term, or even in the medium term."

US/ISRAEL-IRAN WAR AND THE STRAIT OF HORMUZ

GAZA

RUSSIA-UKRAINE WAR

DRAFT LAW ON STRENGTHENING NATIONAL SOLIDARITY AND SOCIAL INTEGRATION

"This framework law has very well-written, guaranteeing provisions. In that respect, it has a good language and mechanism. The organization will not be able to benefit from the provisions of this law without laying down its own weapons and giving up its means and capabilities."

CYPRUS ISSUE

"For us, the solution is the realization of the two-state solution; this is the ideal solution. This is where we stand.

The sovereign, equal, and independent stance of the Turkish Cypriots is important.

The Greek side will never share the state equally with the Turks. This is a matter with the certainty of two plus two equals four.

We support any dialogue environment that includes Turkish Cypriots.

We do not need to wait for permanent solutions to achieve certain interests.

We do not recognize the Greek side as a state. If you do not recognize the rights of the Turkish Cypriots, I will not recognize your state existence, because you are not the state established in 1960."

The status quo has been the same for 50 years; stability and peace on the island are due to one single reason: the presence of the Turkish soldier on the island."
