İmamoğlu's lawyer Mehmet Pehlivan released under judicial control!

Mehmet Pehlivan, the lawyer for Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, has been released under judicial control.

Lawyer Pehlivan was accused of "money laundering." In line with the investigation initiated by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office's Money Laundering Investigation Bureau, a detention order was issued for Pehlivan within the framework of "laundering assets derived from crime" and the "Law on Prevention of Laundering Proceeds of Crime."

Following the detention procedures, Pehlivan was referred to Bayrampaşa State Hospital for a health check. 

After the completion of his procedures there, Pehlivan was taken to the Provincial Police Department.

Ekrem İmamoğlu made a statement on his social media account following the detention of his lawyer, Mehmet Pehlivan. 

İmamoğlu used the following expressions: 

"There is no end to the lies or slanders of the prohibitionist mindset. This time, my lawyer Mehmet Pehlivan was taken into custody on fabricated grounds. As if it were not enough that they staged a coup against democracy, they cannot even tolerate the victims of this coup defending themselves. They want to add a legal coup to the democratic coup. The evil that a handful of incompetent people are inflicting on our country is growing. Release my lawyer immediately."
