Interior Minister Çiftçi's statement on school attack: 'It was a first-degree high-risk school, 3 students in critical condition'
Interior Minister Mustafa Çiftçi and Minister of National Education Yusuf Tekin traveled to Manisa to receive information on the latest situation. The two ministers made a statement to journalists around 16:00 in the evening.
Interior Minister Mustafa Çiftçi, who went to the region following the armed attack in front of the Turgutlu İnci Üzmez Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School in Manisa, stated, "3 injured are in surgery, 3 of the 8 injured are in intensive care." Çiftçi said, "The school where the attack took place was a first-degree high-risk school."
An armed attack was carried out in front of a high school in the Turgutlu district of Manisa. The incident occurred around 08:00 in the morning at the İnci Üzmez Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School. It was understood that the attacker was H.O., a 9th-grade student at the school. 11 students were injured by shotgun pellets in the attack.
THREE STUDENTS IN CRITICAL CONDITION
Minister Mustafa Çiftçi said that three of the 11 injured students are in critical condition.
Stating that one of the eight injured students has been discharged, Çiftçi said, "The incident will be investigated in all its administrative aspects. A judicial investigation into the incident is also underway."
“THE SCHOOL WAS A FIRST-DEGREE HIGH-RISK SCHOOL”
Pointing out that there are security measures taken by the Ministry of Interior within the scope of the measures taken by the Ministry of National Education, Çiftçi stated that the school where the attack took place was a first-degree high-risk school.
Minister Çiftçi said, "We are inspecting the areas around schools and school buses. School safety is not something that can be achieved only with physical measures. We have a protocol that we have been working on for three months. We signed this protocol yesterday."
MOTHER, FATHER, AND GRANDFATHER IN CUSTODY
Minister of Justice Akın Gürlek, who made a statement regarding the attack at 11:10, had reported that 11 students, two of them seriously, were injured in the incident.
Sharing the information that an investigation was launched immediately after the incident and two prosecutors were assigned, Gürlek had announced that the attacker named H.O. was in custody.
Gürlek had noted that in addition to the attacker, the mother, father, and the grandfather, who is the owner of the weapon used in the attack, were also taken into custody.
