Revenge statement from Iranian Supreme Leader Khamenei: 'We consider it a duty'

Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei stated that they consider themselves responsible for the assassination of Hamas Political Bureau Chief Ismail Haniyeh because it took place in Iran, and that they consider it their duty to avenge Haniyeh against Israel.

Revenge statement from Iranian Supreme Leader Khamenei: 'We consider it a duty'

Khamenei issued a written statement regarding the assassination of Hamas leader Haniyeh in Tehran.

Stating that they consider themselves responsible because the assassination took place in Iran, Khamenei assessed, "The criminal and terrorist Zionist regime has saddened us by martyring our dear guest in our home, but it has also prepared a severe punishment for itself."

Offering condolences for the assassination of Haniyeh, whom he called a "brave leader," Khamenei said, "I offer my condolences to the Islamic Ummah, the resistance front, the brave and proud Palestinian nation, and especially to the family of Martyr Haniyeh, the survivors, and for his companion who was martyred with him, and I pray to Allah to elevate the ranks of these martyrs."

Khamenei used the expression, "We consider it our duty to avenge the blood of Haniyeh, who was martyred on Iranian soil."
