Israel kills another high-ranking Hamas commander
Israel announced that it killed Bilal al-Qudra, a high-ranking commander of the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of Hamas, in airstrikes on Gaza.
In a written statement, the Israeli army claimed that Bilal al-Qudra, the commander of an elite unit in the southern Khan Yunis area, was killed in airstrikes on Gaza conducted with intelligence provided by the Shin Bet (Shabak) internal security agency.
The statement reported that al-Qudra was responsible for the attack on the Nirim and Nir-Oz Jewish settlements as part of the "Al-Aqsa Flood" operation launched by the Al-Qassam Brigades on the morning of October 7.
The statement, which also noted that some activists from Hamas and the Palestinian Islamic Jihad movement were killed, indicated that the Israeli army carried out airstrikes on more than 100 military targets in the Ez-Zeytun neighborhood, Khan Yunis, and western Jabalia last night in order to weaken Hamas's capabilities.
NO STATEMENT FROM HAMAS
The statement, which reported that "command headquarters, military complexes, numerous rocket launchers, anti-tank missile launch sites, and observation areas" were hit in the airstrikes, also stated that the Islamic Jihad's command headquarters and some public buildings affiliated with Hamas were targeted.
Hamas and the Palestinian Islamic Jihad movement have not yet made a statement regarding the incident.
