The Israeli military announced that a missile fired from the Red Sea region toward Israeli territory was destroyed in the air by its defense system.
In a statement from the Israeli military, it was noted that fighter jets were scrambled following the detection of an "aerial threat" in the Red Sea, and that the target in question was destroyed before it reached Israeli borders.
Although the Israeli military did not provide information on where or by whom the missile was fired, local media reported that the Iran-backed Houthis in Yemen were behind the attack.
ASSASSINATION OF HAMAS COMMANDER
Meanwhile, the Israeli military announced that it had carried out an assassination of a Hamas-affiliated commander in the northern part of the blockaded Gaza Strip.
In a written statement from the Israeli military, it was stated that "Israeli fighter jets, based on intelligence from the internal security agency Shin Bet (Shabak), eliminated Nessim Abu Ajina, the commander of Hamas's Beit Lahiya Battalion."
The statement claimed that Abu Ajina had previously served as the "commander of Hamas's air forces" and played a role in the development of unmanned aerial vehicle and glider capabilities, and further alleged that Abu Ajina had sent "fighters" to settlements around the Gaza Strip on October 7.
