Israel has targeted a school in the Sheikh Radwan neighborhood of Gaza where displaced people were sheltering. According to initial reports, 10 civilians lost their lives in the attack.

Meanwhile, the Palestinian Civil Defense in the Gaza Strip announced that the Israeli army bombed the buildings of the University College of Applied Sciences located in the Tel al-Hawa neighborhood in the southwest of Gaza City.

Civil Defense Spokesperson Mahmoud Basal stated in a written statement that the buildings on the university campus were completely destroyed as a result of the bombardment. Basal stated that the Israeli army, which entered the Tel al-Hawa neighborhood, demolished the buildings with explosives and that warplanes also carried out aerial bombardments.

Eyewitnesses reported hearing loud explosions from the area where the university is located and seeing thick smoke rising from the site.

In a statement made by the Media Office of the government in Gaza on August 1, it was reported that 117 schools and universities had been destroyed and 107 researchers and lecturers had lost their lives in the Israeli attacks that have been ongoing since October 7, 2023.
