İYİ Party Adana MP Ayyüce Türkeş Taş asked Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmuş, who went to Diyarbakır with some members of the National Solidarity, Fraternity and Democracy Commission and recited a Kurdish poem at the Dicle University 2025-2026 Academic Year Opening Ceremony, "Is your goal to open the first 4 articles of the constitution, which you mention at every opportunity, to debate?"

Türkeş Taş stated that Kurtulmuş violated the Constitution and should resign. Answering journalists' questions in Diyarbakır, Kurtulmuş replied to the question about his reciting a Kurdish poem by saying, "In terms of its meaning, it was a Kurdish line wishing for us to be together, hand in hand, in peace, and for tranquility and well-being to prevail among us. I believe this will contribute to the brotherhood and well-being in Turkey."

The video of the moments when Kurtulmuş, who ended his speech with Kurdish lines, recited the Kurdish poem was shared on the official social media account of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM).

Reacting to Kurtulmuş's recitation of a Kurdish poem on the official X account of the TBMM, Türkeş Taş quoted the TBMM's video post and wrote the following:

"As the Speaker of the TBMM, what you have done is a clear violation of Article 3 of the Constitution and Article 96 of the TBMM Rules of Procedure!

Is your goal to open the first 4 articles of the constitution, which you mention at every opportunity, to debate?

A parliament speaker who clearly violates the Constitution must resign immediately."

KURTULMUŞ: I BELIEVE IT WILL CONTRIBUTE TO THE BROTHERHOOD AND WELL-BEING IN TURKEY

Continuing his programs after the opening ceremony, Kurtulmuş also answered journalists' questions at a press conference.

When asked about his recitation of the Kurdish poem, Kurtulmuş said, "I think it fit perfectly into the flow of the speech. In terms of its meaning, it was a Kurdish line wishing for us to be together, hand in hand, in peace, and for tranquility and well-being to prevail among us. I believe this will contribute to the brotherhood and well-being in Turkey."
