Justice Minister Tunç comments on UN resolution: An important determination that Israel is committing war crimes

Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunç shared a post on his social media account, evaluating the United Nations General Assembly's decision to call for a ceasefire.

Stating that the resolution is an important determination that Israel is committing war crimes, Tunç said, “The UN General Assembly resolution dated October 27 regarding the call for an immediately applicable, permanent, and sustainable ceasefire concerning Israel’s attacks on Gaza is an important determination that Israel is committing war crimes, genocide, and crimes against humanity.

The UN General Assembly resolution is significant in that it carries the nature of what is termed 'soft law' in terms of international law and contains determinations regarding what international law is on the subject,” he stated.

"IT HAS BEEN ACCEPTED AS EVIDENCE IN THE PAST"

Emphasizing that such resolutions have been accepted as evidence in proceedings at the International Court of Justice in The Hague in the past, Tunç said, “Such resolutions, adopted by a high majority, have been accepted as evidence in the past in proceedings at the International Court of Justice in The Hague.

When Israel eventually begins to be held accountable before the Court of Justice for the massacres of children and attacks targeting civilians, reference will be made to this UN General Assembly resolution, and all those responsible, including all high-level Israeli officials who gave the orders for the massacres, will be punished on the grounds that they had a clear intent to commit crimes.

Israeli officials, starting with their President and Prime Minister, will sooner or later be unable to escape being held accountable before humanity,” he said.
