Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu responds to Uğur Dündar's 'political bribery' allegations: 'You have lost your balance'
Former CHP Chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu responded to Uğur Dündar's 'political bribery' allegations, stating, "I cannot remain silent to the insinuation that I 'received political bribery' from the components of the Table of Six," and added: "Furthermore, you have lost your balance to the point of asking me on live broadcasts whether I am an agent of foreign states!"
Journalist Uğur Dündar had made 'political bribery' allegations regarding former CHP Chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu on a television program.
Kılıçdaroğlu responded to Uğur Dündar with harsh criticisms on his social media account. Kılıçdaroğlu stated, "You can attack me as much as you want, but I will not allow you to dynamite our brotherhood. I will remain silent to your allegations that I distributed political bribery to impose my own candidacy, but I will not remain silent to the insinuation that the components of the Table of Six 'received political bribery,' and I will not let this unity be broken!"
Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu shared a post on his social media account regarding Dündar's remarks about him, using the phrases "Let us make a note for the past and the future! This is my open letter to Mr. Uğur Dündar..."
Kılıçdaroğlu attacked Uğur Dündar with harsh expressions, saying, "You have lost your balance to the point of asking whether I am an agent of foreign states, and I did not speak up."
Kılıçdaroğlu's statement is as follows:
"Uğur Dündar, whose ship did not even face a wave during the 68 generation storm that resulted in the executions of the nation's children from the right and the left, the 'Our Uğur' of the 1980 coup, the TRT General Manager... Uğur Dündar, who was a regular at courtesy visits while the honest and struggling youth of our generation—including Tarık Akan, one of the monuments of honor of our generation, who got into fistfights—were being tortured with lice in their hair, and who never had a stone touch his foot...
Uğur Dündar, who contributed to the slogans of 'Mini skirts despite everything, cleavage despite everything' when the issue came to the headscarf problem, who had a hand in the infrastructure of the February 28 process by touching upon the belief points of society in every news program he started with the sentence 'Not a day goes by without...', who always fed on the polarization in society under the guise of health scandal news with the headline 'Headscarf Tragedy', who made great 'sacrifices' to build his comfortable space at the top of his ivory towers, the Uğur Dündar of the blacklists..."
'WE HAVE MADE PEACE'
Kılıçdaroğlu attacked Dündar over the call for 'making peace' (helalleşme), stating, "In every field, while the current oppressive government and the opposition—which includes your friends (who I think believe they are)—are struggling with lawsuits, imprisonments, and attacks and paying the price, your wheel keeps turning 'gloriously,' Mr. Uğur. Let me give you a secret that you know but will not like at all; We have made peace.
In this country, we have made peace with our conservatives who, let alone voting for the Republican People's Party, would say 'Bismillah' when they heard its name. We faced the bad legacy of the right-left conflict remaining from the 1960s. We also made peace with our right-wing brothers who viewed us as faithless and enemies of religion... We talked, agreed, and made peace with our cities, including Central Anatolia and the east, where we could not even send a representative, let alone elect a deputy..."
'LET ME TELL YOU HOW WE DID IT'
Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu said, "We faced coups, February 28s, unsolved murders, and executions. We buried all the traumas, angers, and feelings of revenge we experienced in the past into the ground forever. We accepted all our differences, loved, and embraced each other. There is no bread for you and the identity you represent here anymore! We did this with our patriotic friends. We did it with the leaders of the Table of Six, especially my dear friend Mr. Karamollaoğlu. Let me tell you how we did it. We cried for Berkin Elvan, and for Eren Bülbül...
We were struck with Sinan Ateş, and with Tahir Elçi... We climbed the gallows with Deniz Gezmiş, and with Mustafa Pehlivanoğlu... We supported the victims of the Ergenekon conspiracy, and the innocent, blameless kindergarten teachers who were victims of the Decree Laws (KHK)... We walked, Mr. Uğur. We walked for justice, for the people. Bullets were left on our path, we walked...
Filth was poured, we walked... Terrorist organizations fired shots, we were lynched, they said 'Burn that house' for the house we were in, we walked against death threats and assassination attempts many times." he emphasized that he stands by all victims.
'TO THE POINT OF ASKING WHETHER I AM AN AGENT OF FOREIGN STATES...'
Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu attacked Uğur Dündar with harsh expressions, saying, "The Republican People's Party has changed a lot, Mr. Uğur. It is no longer a party that a large part of society sees as a monster. Look at how my dear brother Cemal Enginyurt defends the Nation Alliance and our making peace against you on the TV program, and how you deny it. You have not changed at all! You are still trying to do what you did in the 70s, 80s, and 90s. It won't work this time!
You and the identity you represent are like the two opposite poles of a magnet regarding the beliefs and values of society. As you get closer to the Republican People's Party and social peace, our headscarved sisters who distributed our brochures during the elections, our Kurdish brothers who forgot all their grievances, our right-wing brothers with whom we integrated under the roof of patriotism, in short, the 'others' of this country are moving away from us. We cannot allow this.
Maybe it was a bit hurtful, but excuse me, Mr. Uğur, these are the facts. You have lost your balance to the point of asking me on live broadcasts whether I am an agent of foreign states, and I did not speak up."
"I CANNOT REMAIN SILENT TO THE INSINUATION THAT YOU 'RECEIVED POLITICAL BRIBERY'"
Continuing his words, Kılıçdaroğlu said, "You can attack me as much as you want, but I will not allow you to dynamite our brotherhood. I will remain silent to your allegations that I distributed political bribery to impose my own candidacy, but I will not remain silent to the insinuation that the components of the Table of Six 'received political bribery,' and I will not let this unity be broken!
In your own words; 'I have known Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu since the 70s. Mr. Kemal's main job is to hold people accountable. He has brought many lost trillions of the state, the rights of orphans whose hair has not yet grown, from abroad and registered them as revenue to the treasury.' It is true, Mr. Uğur. My main job is to hold people accountable.
If you continue to attack this brotherhood structure, this social alliance, and this 'making peace' established with great effort and paid prices, if you try to damage this agreement of the nation on the path to civilization, I will hold you accountable for it. When I feel that there are efforts and works to polarize society, divide it, and disconnect my party from the people again, Mr. Uğur, I will put on my moccasins again in the political arena and I will fight for this cause, no matter the cost.
Who will history forgive, and who will it not? Let us make a note of this question too, and let time show... On this occasion, let us commemorate our patriotic journalist Mr. Mehmet Ali Birand with respect. Greetings to all true journalists in his person..." he said.
