Land dispute ends in bloodshed in Bolu: Father and son shot dead
Tayfun Sönmez and his father Tahsin Sönmez lost their lives in a fight that broke out over a land dispute in the Gökçesu town of Mengen.
A dispute over land in the Gökçesu town of Bolu's Mengen district turned into an armed conflict. In the incident, Tayfun Sönmez and his father Tahsin Sönmez were shot and killed with a rifle.
The incident occurred in the Hürriyet neighborhood of Gökçesu town. According to the information obtained, relatives Tayfun Sönmez and Tahsin Sönmez wanted to fence off a small area that fell to their share in the garden of Ramazan Ç., who has a single-story house on a shared plot of land.
The verbal argument that started between the parties, who were reported to have had a previous disagreement over the land, escalated quickly. It is alleged that Ramazan Ç. opened fire on the father and son with a rifle he had in his house.
Upon the notification of those who heard the gunshots, health and gendarmerie teams were dispatched to the area. Checks by the health teams determined that Tayfun Sönmez and Tahsin Sönmez had lost their lives at the scene.
Gendarmerie teams took extensive security measures in the area. After the public prosecutor's investigation, the bodies of the father and son were taken to the hospital morgue. A search has been initiated to apprehend Ramazan Ç., who fled after the incident.
