Last words of journalist targeted while reporting: 'The building will be bombed'

It was revealed in the morning hours that 7 journalists lost their lives in the attacks carried out by the Israeli army on the blockaded Gaza Strip.

In a statement made by the Government Media Office in Gaza, it was stated that since October 7, 7 members of the press have lost their lives in Israeli attacks, 10 have been injured, and 2 journalists are missing.

According to Al Jazeera; among the journalists who lost their lives, Saeed al-Taweel and two other press members died while they were there to film a building that Israel was about to bomb in Gaza City.

In Taweel's final audio recording, it was understood that he said, "Unfortunately, they have just sent a warning note that the Hiji building will be bombed. The area has been completely evacuated. Women, men, the elderly, children, they have all completely left the area.''

Al-Taweel, Mohammed Subh, and Hisham Alnwajha, who went to the area to report, were standing at a safe distance, hundreds of meters away from the specified target. However, the airstrike hit a different building much closer to them.

PRESS TARGETED IN CONFLICT ZONE

According to the report by the Palestinian news agency WAFA, Alnwajha was seriously injured and was taken to the intensive care unit at Al-Shifa Medical Complex.

The journalists were wearing bulletproof vests and helmets that clearly identified them as members of the press, but they could not avoid being targeted. Funeral ceremonies for Subh and al-Taweel were held hours later at a hospital in Gaza City. As a tribute to their work, the iconic helmets worn by media workers were placed on their bodies, which were covered with white shrouds.
