Lawyer Sevda Gül Tunçer explained the latest developments regarding Ege Akersoy, who was arrested for allegedly punching a participant in the Palestine march in Istanbul on January 1, 2024, to 12punto.
Attorney Tunçer stated that Ege Akersoy is in good health and has been in contact with his family.
Tunçer noted that following the spread of the incident on social media, Akersoy became a focal point of polarization, despite having no such intention.
Tunçer stated that they had appealed his detention but were rejected, that the prosecution phase is ongoing, and that they will file a request for his release, though they do not know whether the prosecutor will accept it. Tunçer also noted that Akersoy's exams have begun, but they do not know if he will be able to make it to his make-up exams.
Attorney Tunçer further added, "We must speak about these issues independently of Ege so that Ege may regain his freedom."
